White Living Room Ideas

When it comes to interior design there are no limits and you can be as fearless as you want but there is something to be said about the simplicity of a white living space. The light and airy feeling you get when you walk into a room such as these are so fresh yet inviting.

AD Contemporary Living Room

This contemporary living room from Architectural Digest is stunning with its high ceilings and views. The furniture has clean lines and the area rug, throw and accent pillows provide much needed texture.

Incorporating one main accent color to keep the space simple and light is a key element. Play around with your floorplan until it works for you and your lifestyle. In this case, there are two main seating areas within this space with an unexpected dining table off to the side.

AD-Living Room Black White

Chic, chic and chic…Black and white is and always will be a classic.  The black walls frame the space amongst all the white and the touches of black trim on the furniture give another place for your eyes to land.

AD-Living RoomsAdding in a large scale art piece can be an excellent way to break up all white space.  Flanking furniture around a focal like a fireplace creates a cozy spot.  This space has a unique character with a feeling of simplicity, warmth and texture while still keeping the majority of the space white.

Palm Springs Modernism Week in California is a celebration of Mid-Century Design, Architecture, and Culture.  I will be there with bells on to take in all the design wonder I can get along with some shopping and dining too.  Starting with the Modernism Show and Sale, Prefab Showcase and Modern Living Expo, Uptown Design District and plenty of site seeing in between.

Monsieur Bleu Paris

French architect Joseph Dirand – has opened Monsieur Bleu restaurant at Palais de Tokyo in Paris.  The interior design has a classical and contemporary look with marble, mirror and tile.  The plush velvet green upholstery adds warmth to the restaurant along with the geometric rectangular chandeliers.  The bar is so chic in all it’s gold glory.

Greystone Mansion

Over the weekend I had the chance to visit the historic Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.  It was breathtaking seeing the interiors of the mansion as well as the exterior with its lavish gardens over looking Los Angeles.  The mansion was completed in 1928 by Ned Doheny, Jr., heir to one of the nation’s great oil empires, and has become a treasured cultural icon in the Southern California landscape.  (Photos weren’t allowed inside)

Christian DIOR Boutique: Beverly Hills

New Dior store

Dior’s 5000 square-foot Beverly Hills boutique along Rodeo Drive has undergone a contemporary and classic French interior design style which the company notes “reflects the traditional and modern elegance of Dior”.  The interior has plenty of shades of grey which is another favored design element of  Dior.  From upholstery, casegoods, carpet to pillows.
